KatrinaBettenworthKatrin Bettenworth Clinic at Heartwood South a tremendous success.

German Grand Prix trainer and competitor Katrin Bettenworth made her American debut at Heartwood South Nov. 17 - 19, 2006. Although Katrin has taught clinics all over Europe, including Spain, Italy, Denmark and England, this was her first trip to the United States. The invitation
came from Nancy Pugh Later who met Katrin four years ago when she purchased Alexis-D from Katrin's farm in Germany. " Katrin has always been interested in Girli's (Alexis-D ) progress" Nancy says, "I have seen Katrin at the horse shows when I was competing in Germany and she
was always very positive and helpful. I thought this was a perfect
opportunity to bring a top German trainer to Florida."

Katrin Bettenworth is a German professional who lives in Spenge, Germany. She has trained many Grand Prix horses and has competed successfully in the Bundeschampionate as well as through the Grand Prix level in Germany.
Many of the Grand Prix horses she has trained have gone on to successful careers with other riders all over the world. Katrin's training methods were clear and rewarding. The theme throughout the clinic "ride forward and go inside!". Katrin wanted all of the horses to become stronger in self carriage by using a shoulder in position. Katrin has a positive approach and a super sense of humor. Even in the most difficult movements she remained calm and clear and both riders and horses were able to benefit from her system. She knew
exactly what she wanted to get across to the rider and was able to make
it easy for the rider to relay that to his/her horse, in the end the riders were rewarded with horses that were more forward and through. "I am still getting phone calls from the riders and from the spectators," organizer Nancy Pugh Later states, "Everyone thanking me for inviting Katrin and also telling me how excited they are to ride their horses now with the new enthusiasm that she has brought to the work."

Participants in the clinic were Mary Ann Grant, Janna Rumbough, Holly
Thomas-Studley, John Zopatti, Jocelyn Weiss, Sara Singer, Lynne Kimball
Davis, Audrey Maschue and Nancy Pugh Later. The clinic was sponsored by Guido Klatte International Horse Transportation, Euro American Saddlery, Cunningham and Cunningham Livestock Insurance, Nancy Later Dressage Horses and Heartwood South owners, David and Mickey Pugh.
